Sunday, August 1, Road Ride, 10:00 am PROMPT, FOUR CANYONS, about 40 miles/4 hours/level B/hills B
New route ! Not too much climbing, and we do it early. We'll start the ride at the Castro Valley BART station, bike Crow, Norris, Bollinger, lunch in Pleasanton and then back over Dublin Canyon. It is also possible to take BART back from Pleasanton if the headwinds are too strong. Excessive heat may cancel or shorten ride.
Start: Meet at the Castro Valley BART station. Take 580 East, exit at Redwood Road, turn left onto Redwood Road, go about three blocks, and turn left into the BART parking lot. Helen Herzberg (510) 537-9109.
Wednesday, August 4, Road Ride, East Bay Evening Ride, approx. 20 miles/1.5-2 hours/pace, level, hills vary, to increase as season progresses

Saturday, August 7, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Orinda BART-Oakland Hills Loop, 28 or 34 miles/3 hours/pace 2/level B/hills C
Meet at Orinda BART for our traditional Oakland Hills loop. This is a good training ride and you can do either 26 or 34 miles. We will head West on Camino Pablo, go up Wildcat Canyon to Grizzly Peak, then left onto Skyline Blvd. You can then either go down Pinehurst or continue on Skyline for an additional 4 miles and then go up Pinehurst to Canyon and take Moraga Way back to BART. We will have lunch in The Square at Shelby’s for those who want to stay afterwards.
Start: Orinda Bart. Take Orinda exit off Hwy 24. From West, left at end of ramp and immediate right into Bart entrance, drive left over freeway and park to the far right. From East, take 2nd exit road and right into Bart entrance. Carolyn Mason 510-865-5049 (home) 510-502-5049 (cell)
Sunday, August 8, Road Ride, 9:30 am, Double Bridge Loop, 35 miles/level B/pace 2/hills C
Join me for this pleasant ride around Contra Costa and Solano Counties. We will stop at two vista points for the great views. After the ride we’ll have refreshments.
Start: Meet at Hidden Lake Open Space Park in Martinez. Exit I-680 west onto Willow Pass Rd. ( Willow Pass Rd. becomes Taylor Blvd.) Turn right on Morello Ave. Follow Morello Ave. to the end. The park will be in front of you. Roland Flamme (925) 686-9153

Saturday, August 14, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Orinda BART-Three Bears, 24 miles/3 hours/pace 2/level B/hills C
Meet at Orinda BART for our traditional Three Bears ride. We will head West on Camino Pablo, turn Right on Castro Ranch Road, Right on Bear Creek and then Left on Camino Pablo and head back to Orinda BART. We will have lunch in The Square for those who want to stay afterward.

Sunday, August 15, Road Ride, 10:00 am PROMPT, Castro Valley to Sunol - about 40 miles/4 hours/level B/hills B
We'll start the ride at the Castro Valley BART station, bike over the Dublin Grade, and on to Sunol for lunch. Return against headwinds on the Dublin Grade will make you work! It's also possible to take BART back from Pleasanton. Those that want more of a workout can continue to Sunol Regional Park (about 55 miles total) and return from there.

Saturday, August 21, Road Ride, 10:00 am, East Bay Loop, 27 miles/3-4 hours/level B/pace 2/hills D
Join me for a ride we have not done for a while around Contra Costa. We will make our way from Orinda BART to Lafayette, to Reliez Valley Rd, up the back of Pig Farm Hill, on to The Bears and back to BART. We can stop en route for a snack, then for lunch in Orinda at the end.
Start: From West: Take Orinda exit from Highway 24, left at light at end of ramp and first right into the BART entrance. Drive over bridge to the left and park at the West side.

Sunday, August 22, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Petaluma-Chileno Valley Loop, 40 miles/4 hours/level B/pace 2/hills C
We’ll start our ride through this bucolic farmland at the corner of Western Ave and Chileno Valley Rd in the town of Petaluma. We'll ride clockwise, out Chileno Valley Road to Tomales. Following a snack break in Tomales, we'll return to Petaluma via Spring Hill Road. For those who are interested, we’ll meet for lunch afterwards at McNear’s, a funky old hang out in downtown Petaluma

Saturday, August 28, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Moore’s Landing/Napa Loop, 36 miles/pace 2/level B/hills C
We’ll start at Moore’s Landing on the Napa River, and head over to the East side of Napa for our loop ride. This is a lovely ride with no real big hills. Given this area, however, there are options to add some hills and miles! There is a Deli mid-ride where we can stop for a snack and then return to have lunch at Moore’s Landing Café.
Start: Moore’s Landing, Napa River. From Marin: Take Hwy 37 to Hwy 121. Follow Hwy 121/12 east toward Napa. Turn right at Cuttings Wharf Rd. Follow Cuttings Wharf Rd. to where it ends at the Napa River.
From the East Bay take Hwy. 29. Turn west onto Hwy 121/12. Turn left at Cuttings Wharf Rd. Follow Cuttings Wharf Rd. to where it ends at the Napa River. Park in the parking lot along the back fence. Jan & Jeanne Bush (707) 939-2912
Sunday, August 29, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Petaluma/Cotati Loop, 34 miles/3 or 4 hours/multi-pace/level C/hills C.
Join us for a ride in the Petaluma/Cotati countryside. We'll start at Walnut Park in Petaluma, head out of town north, ride to Cotati for lunch in the park (deli nearby), then return to Petaluma to complete the loop.
